Tacoma is located on the Western side of Washington along the Salish Sea also called the Puget Sound and has a a population of 211 thousand people. The traditional homelands of the Puyallup Tribe who have lived on and stewarded these lands since the beginning of time, and continue to do so today. Canopy cover is 19.5% making it the lowest canopy cover of all of Western Washington towns, with the middle value of impervious surface cover.

We’ve identified potential partner organizations engaged in environmental management and protection, or public health work, and are seeking to build relationships to inform our research with the following organizations:

  • Tacoma Tree Foundation
  • University of Washington
  • Advanced Women’s Health
  • CHI Franciscan Health
  • Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department
  • Washington Environmental Council
