Portland’s canopy cover is equal with Tacoma at 27 percent, the highest of our cities. The impervious surface cover is also the highest of our study cities. It’s the largest city in our study, at nearly 640 thousand people.
As our project’s home city, we have already developed relationships with a number of organizations dedicated to our efforts of exploring the link between health and the environment. We will work with those partners and others during the course of this project:
- Oregon Health and Science University
- Portland State University
- Urban Forestry
- The Nature Conservancy
- OPAL Environmental Justice Oregon
- Oregon Humanities
- National Best Baby Zone
Special thank you to Oregon Metro for the tree canopy data to support this project.
